Life is about slowing down enough to be connected to yourself enough to know your true self. The answers are within you, the answers are unique to you.

As I have been forced to slow down lately it allows me step into this space of really knowing what I want going forward, the challenges of not physically not being able to do much has brought up moments of asking “why am I so hard on myself” where can I let go even more… the body will thank you for this rest, you must control the mind to not run off and create stories on you… you must surrender and be grateful for all its teachings.

Your nervous system shapes how you experience the world.

When it’s stuck in survival mode, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, reactive, exhausted, or constantly on edge. It’s not because you’re “broken” it’s because your brain is trying to protect you.

The good news? Your nervous system is adaptable.

Here are 6 science backed ways to support it:

🌿 1. Slow your exhale
A longer exhale activates your parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) nervous system, helping lower your heart rate and calm your stress response.

🧠 2. Name what you’re feeling
Research shows that putting emotions into words can reduce activity in the brain’s fear centre (the amygdala) and improve emotional regulation.

🏃‍♀️ 3. Move your body
Stress hormones prepare your body for action. Walking, strength training, yoga, or dancing can help complete the stress response and boost mood.

🤍 4. Co-regulate with safe people
Your nervous system is influenced by those around you. Feeling seen, heard, and supported helps your brain recognise safety.

☀️ 5. Get morning sunlight
Morning light helps regulate your body clock, supporting healthier cortisol and melatonin rhythms for better energy, sleep, and resilience.

💭 6. Challenge the story
Ask yourself: Is this a fact or a fear? Your brain responds to your interpretation of a situation, not just the situation itself.

Remember, nervous system regulation doesn’t mean you’ll never experience stress. It means you’ll become more capable of returning to calm after stress.

The body holds wisdom.
The body holds answers.

And I think so often we forget that because the world we live in is constantly asking us to do more, be more, achieve more and move onto the next thing.

But sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is slow down long enough to actually listen.

To listen to what our body is asking for.
To notice what is coming up.
To understand the patterns instead of constantly trying to push through them.

Stress and dysregulation can show up in so many different ways ~ acne, bloating, digestive issues, exhaustion, tension, inflammation, feeling stuck in your body, or constantly working towards your “dream body” but never quite feeling like you’re getting there.

And sometimes the answer isn’t doing MORE.

Sometimes it’s slowing down.

I’m so grateful for the life I get to live, but right now my body is asking me to slow down.

When my natural instinct is to go out on the boat, go fishing, go diving, go surfing, go adventuring… I’m being asked to pause.

To rest.
To recover.
To listen.

I’ve always felt very connected to my body and intuition, but this is a whole new level of slowing down and actually honouring what my body needs.

And honestly, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

We’ve been deep in our nervous system era inside my Inner Light Program because before we can move into self-mastery, we have to understand the body.

We have to slow down enough to recognise our patterns.

We have to regulate before we can rewire.

And we have to reconnect with ourselves before we can create the dream body, dream life and aligned reality we actually desire.

When you’re living in alignment, your nervous system often feels safer. You may notice less anxiety, less overthinking, more presence, more clarity and a greater sense of peace.

Do I feel aligned?
If the answer is no, don’t judge yourself.
